Knock Out Phase
If you go to this worksheet before all group matches is completed and before all matches are revealed, you will find empty worksheet without any teams in team boxes. But, you can make them appeared by making dummy scores and drawing results in group qualification worksheet, like what I do for the explanation.

Champions League Quarter Final Matches

Say that all group matches are completed and drawing has been made, you will see all teams are revealed in this worksheet where runner up teams will play as host in the first leg. Make sure that you only enter your score in the blue boxes. Don’t enter score results in white boxes because it contains formula that will calculate the winner based on the regulation. You can complete the date and time information inside the home team boxes or you can put your TV show information in these two rows, but don’t change the information in matches row (number 1 to 8). It will affect the excel formula.

In the example, as you can see in the picture for the first match, AC Milan win 1 - 0 againts Bayern Munich at home and lost 1 - 2 while visiting Bayern Munich. But AC Milan advances because of away goals rule. And there is formula to calculate that, so you don’t have manually calculate it. And there will be no impact that will affect the result if you fill the extra time and penalty box.

After all first round matches is completed, you can go to the drawing table below the first round table. There is a table that is filled with all the first round winner and an empty quarter final matches table. Here, you have to fill it manually based on the drawing that is planned to be held on 19 March 2010. This is an open drawing where any teams can meet each other without same country consideration.

Champions League Quarter Final Draw

And semifinal matches also being drawn here. Since there is no teams name available, the drawing will be based on the quarter final winner number 1 to number 4. You can select the number based on the drawing result. The formula will do the rest for you.

Now, you can start to fill the score box for quarter final matches. And you can go to the semi final matches where the team who meet will be revealed automatically, and continue to fill the box score.

Before filling the correct results, you can try to fill dummy results and play with many possibilities to reveal your predicted champion. In this sample worksheet, Chelsea will win the Champion League by beating Real Madrid in the final match which held in Santiago Bernabeu, Madrid… No offense, this is just a sample. You can do the same to make your team become the champion, at least in this spreadsheet first :-).

Champions League Final

Ok guys, you can download the spreadsheet HERE. If you like this spreadsheet, don’t forget to buy me a ticket for the Champions League final if your team play in the final :-). Let me know if you found some bugs inside the spreadsheet.
