This 2018/2019 UEFA Champions League will enter the 64th season as Europe’s premier club soccer tournament. Its format has been changed several times, and 2018/2019 format will remain the same with last year format, where 32 teams will be distributed into 8 groups and the top two in each groups will advance to the knock out round. And the draw that held in Monaco on 30th August 2018 has yielded groups with club participants as follows :
Group A – Atletico Madrid, Borussia Dortmund, Monaco, Club Brugge
Group B – Barcelona, Tottenham Hotspur, PSV Eindhoven, Internazionale
Group C – Paris Saint-Germain, Napoli, Liverpool, Red Star Belgrade
Group D -Porto, Schalke 04, Galatasaray, Lokomotiv Moscow
Group E – Bayern Munich, Benfica, Ajax, AEK Athens
Group F – Manchester City, Shakhtar Donetsk, Lyon, Hoffenheim
Group G – Real Madrid, AS Roma, CSKA Moscow, Plzen
Group H – Juventus, Manchester United, Valencia, Young Boys
It should be interesting to see how far Real Madrid can go this year after losing Cristiano Ronaldo and Zinedine Zidane. Real Madrid are the defending champions, having won the title for three successive seasons in 2015–16, 2016–17 and 2017–18. Also, with Cristiano Ronaldo switch side to Juventus, we will see how far he could bring his new team.
I have created this 2018/2019 Champions League Fixtures and Scoresheet to simulate this tournament. The format is similar with previous year template. All clubs are already placed in match fixtures and all formulas has been adapted to rank the clubs in each group based on their match results. All you have to do just typing the score in score boxes. when all group matches are completed, you can pairing group winners and runner ups by typing their match number based on round of 16 drawing result which should be taken on 17th December 2018.
I made some changes in knock out round worksheet. I moved extra-time and penalty shoot out boxes from the middle of knock out bracket to the second leg bracket. With this new box position, you will be aware where the extra time and penalty shoot out take place where away goal double value is still considered in extra time period even though it is not considered in penalty shoot out.
In this modified worksheet, you don’t have to type anything in the middle. It will show you the aggregation of both leg matches automatically. There are 2 drawing table in the middle of this worksheet. The left one is a quarterfinal drawing table that can be used after all round of 16 matches are completed, the right one is a semifinal drawing table that can be used after all quarterfinal matches are completed.
I think all of you already know how to use this spreadsheet. Just in case you are new to this template, you can watch my simple guide below.
